Nureha Katana Sword: design and finishes
The name Nureha evokes the fragile beauty of a leaf covered in morning dew, a symbol of the ephemeral nature and perpetual rebirth in Japanese philosophy. This poetic metaphor is reflected in every detail of this katana, where the golden water droplets on the scabbard recall those pearls of dew that transform a simple leaf into a natural jewel. The term “濡葉” combines water (濡) and leaf (葉), creating a visual harmony between natural elements and the art of forging.
Its 1060 steel blade has a distinctive blue hue that captures light like the surface of a peaceful pond, while the genuine hamon notare creates subtle waves along the cutting edge thanks to traditional differential tempering. The bo-hi lightens the blade while producing a characteristic whistling sound during movement. The tsuba guard takes the form of a silver leaf with a golden toad nestled inside, a symbol of prosperity and transformation in Japanese culture. The tsuka handle combines white stingray skin with silver faux leather braiding in a diamond pattern, creating a firm and elegant grip. The silver alloy fuchi and kashira ornaments are adorned with golden flowers reminiscent of cherry blossoms, while the black lacquered wooden saya scabbard is decorated with golden water droplets that sparkle like stars.
