Real Hamon Katana: design and finishes

This Katana with its genuine hamon is a masterpiece. Along its 72 cm T10 (1095) steel blade runs an authentic hamon, obtained by clay-quenching the hot blade in frozen water. The thermal shock to the almost molten metal produces a hard blade and a unique, distinctive hamon pattern.

But this katana with its authentic hamon also has a brass guard, with a rounded golden shape, richly detailed with eagle and flower motifs, engravings on the gilded brass habaki and a richly decorated fuchi. In addition, the handle or Tsuka is covered in genuine white stingray skin and adorned with a woven brown Tsuka-ITO, embellished with floral motifs, providing a remarkable visual balance.

Finally, the black lacquered saya (sheath) elegantly wraps the blade, completing the overall design of this Katana.
