Shiragiku Katana Sword: design and finishes
This katana sword, a true masterpiece of craftsmanship, is distinguished by its two-tone black and gray T10 steel blade, decorated with a choji hamon, a renowned cabbage-leaf-shaped tempering pattern. The Shiragiku features a round, dark-gray alloy guard forming a chrysanthemum with more than 24 petals, a symbol of longevity and happiness, but also a symbol of the emperor and imperial family in feudal Japan. The handle, wrapped in imitation white ray skin and woven with black silk in a diamond pattern, is embellished with a gilded dragon-shaped menuki. The grey lacquered wood saya features a luxurious, refined black fresco. The Fuchi, decorated with floral and leafy motifs, and the silver-alloy Kashira complete the set.
