Subarashī Katana Sword: design and finishes
The Subarashī katana sword (素晴らしい) also known as the Wonderful, shines with elegance and meticulous finishing. Its timelessly beautiful Damascus steel blade offers the option of being sharpened or unsharpened to suit your needs. The red-tinted rosewood scabbard is enhanced by an alloy Kojiri decorated with flowers and cranes, as well as an engraved gilded Koiguchi, making this saya authentic and unique. The brown cavalry Sageo is secured by gilded rings engraved with lions.
The Tsuka in imitation white stingray skin is covered with a black braided Ito in a diamond pattern. A menuki representing a long gilded dragon enhances the overall effect. The cross-shaped guard is partially gilded and engraved with floral motifs also found on the Fuchi, Kashira, and scabbard ends. This katana embodies glory and splendor, true to its name, 素晴らしい, Subarashī.
