Ginhana Katana Sword: design and finishes
The name Ginhana evokes the delicate beauty of silver flowers blooming under the moonlight. This poetic name reflects the harmony between the raw strength of steel and the ornamental grace of its floral details. In Japanese tradition, silver symbolizes purity and clarity of mind, while the flower represents the fleeting beauty of life and perpetual rebirth.
Its 1060 steel blade has a deep blue hue that contrasts beautifully with the genuine notare hamon created by differential tempering. The bo-hi lightens the structure while producing that characteristic whistling sound when cutting. The golden tsuba in the shape of a rounded cross features a multitude of silver chrysanthemums engraved with remarkable precision, creating a play of contrasts between the precious metals. The handle combines the texture of white faux stingray skin with red and blue tsuka-ito braiding forming elegant geometric diamonds. The silver menuki blend harmoniously into this chromatic composition, while the fuchi and kashira in silver and gold alloy echo the floral motifs of the guard. The lacquered wooden scabbard has a grainy finish in shades of orange, black, and blue that evokes sunsets over Japanese gardens.
