“Meiyo” Golden Katana Sword: design and finishes
The Meiyo (名誉) katana sword, also known as Honor, is characterized by its T10 steel blade, famous for its sturdiness, adorned with a cabbage-leaf-shaped hamon obtained by differential clay tempering. Its grainy orange wooden scabbard, adorned with delicate gilding and engraving, is half-covered with a thick white, black, and purple cavalry Sageo, secured by two gilded rings. The handle, wrapped in real white ray skin, is covered with a solid black Ito, highlighting imposing gold- and silver-plated menuki with floral motifs. The guard, in the shape of a Templar cross, is entirely covered in gold and silver plating. The finely engraved, gilded Fuchi and Kashira, together with the smooth brass Habaki, complete this masterpiece of craftsmanship, symbolizing honor and tradition.
