Shizuku Katana Sword: design and finishes
The name Shizuku evokes the fleeting beauty of a drop of water that forms, trembles, and finally falls. This poetic Japanese metaphor symbolizes purity, transformation, and the impermanence of all things.
Its Damascus steel blade reveals wavy patterns reminiscent of the reflections of water under the light. This ancient technique creates subtle nuances that dance along the cutting edge, while the golden brass habaki adorned with black patterns emphasizes the elegance of the whole. The rectangular copper tsuba tells a complete story: on one side, a Buddhist monk meditates in the rain near a pond where a toad, symbol of spiritual transformation, rests; on the other, a solitary tree contemplates the infinite ocean. The handle reveals authentic stingray skin covered with black diamond-patterned braiding, punctuated with golden menuki that catch the light. The black lacquered wooden scabbard is adorned with golden water droplets that seem to trickle down its surface, creating a striking contrast between deep darkness and precious brilliance.
